The week has vanished... almost...

It's Saturday... have barely realised it's the end of the week already. Too many things to do, to catch up on, never ending emails... and too much facebook... but I'm not complaining...

The weather is great for the beach but too hot going around - driving, walking about and meeting people... Tomorrow photoshoot in the afternoon, today day "off".

I could do with a cup of rose tea, or frappé and a dozen French macaroons (hello Ladureé!)

Technology

Walking in Valletta, I came across a large skip stuffed with old technology - printers, monitors, manuals, floppy disks... it brings back a bit of nostalgia, yet at the same time can be saddening to see so many items being discarded. Technology is changing faster and disposed of sooner - maybe the only advantage is that now it's getting smaller...

A night out at the Casino

Time flies and I cannot believe it's Thursday already... Last Monday evening I was taking pics of the restaurant at the Casino Di Venezia in Birgu. I love the view from up there (as well as the food!) - sunset is breathtaking... Right after had a long dinner with Gianluca (art director for the Casino), Silvia, as well as three other foreign persons who I now consider friends... It's been a pleasure meeting Veronica, Giulia and Greg - I hope we'll find some time to meet again soon. After dinner we had a good laugh playing Roulette and Black Jack - I'm hopeless at both!

I'm currently in love with "old style" scents... maybe because winter is approaching or because you get to see so many products that you become extremely selective... I'm in love with Acqua di Parma, Santa Maria Novella, Tom Ford and Prada's. Probably some friends of mine think I smell like Starsky and Hutch in the 70s but I love the intense smell of these perfumes.

A little update

I haven't blogged in months... but who has the time these days... I'm out most of the day from one shoot to the next, back at office finalising images, answering emails and trying to eat and sleep in between. Today my mum called telling me that the book I had ordered has arrived in the post... Pictorial Webster's - A visual dictionary of Curiosities. I couldn't pick it up till 21:00 this evening as was still out on a photoshoot and meetings.

Will the next generations miss the tactile properties of a fine book? We live in a digital age where everything is becoming virtual... but I still believe that a good book is a feast to the senses, not just visually...

Slept well, wokeup around 07:00 had a bath etc... breakfast at King's Cafe on Beverly Blvd (up the road), back to hotel, taxi to some photography stores, guitar store (not for me) on Sunset Blvd then walked up to Hollywood drive.... Walked down for a couple of blocks and grabbed a taxi back at hotel. Some shopping at the Beverly Centre opposite hotel. Sushi buffet and plenty of saki at a restaurant near by, and drinks at the Stone Rose Lounge at the hotel (Sofitel Los Angeles). (And a couple of Starbucks frappes in between). Now back at hotel, had a full bath and soon off to bed... been a very good day - much fun :)

New MacBook Pro 15"

I wasn't thinking of updating (changing) my notebook but dad decided he wanted to get a new notebook... thanks to him (and mum) I bought a new macbook pro - and he got the 'old one'.

I'm familiar with Apple notebooks since the days of the Powerbook and os 9, but it's always a strange feeling to change. The major change in my case was the glossy screen. I wasn't too sure what it feels like to work on a glossy reflective screen but I must admit that I love the bright LED screen - vibrant colours and excellent definition. The power is also incredible in such a sleek machine. Love the trackpad too - no button but works perfectly like one with right click - and finger gesture is cool. I've had this new beauty for just 2 days but love it. The only thing I still have to see is how to get better battery life. Apple promises upto 5hrs battery (As always) but it's never the case - on 'Best Graphics Performance' the best I get is around 2-2.hrs on a new battery. With 'Better Battery Performance' I hope to get at least 3-3.5hrs...

The new macbook pro doesnt come cheap but I do believe that you do get a superior product (apart from a markup price for the 'designer' brand)

Environ

I got 'introduced' to Environ by doing their advertising campaign locally. I get too see many products but these seem to be different...

Today I decided to give the products a try and got my first true introduction and sample products. Friday have a proper consultation - we'll see how it goes... Environ are not off-the-shelf products...

Environ products appear to work on different levels than most cosmetic/beauty products and are very rich in Vitamin A. My skin has improved over the past years (not using Environ at that time) but I do hope it gets better... and remains wrinkle free! :)

This is the stuff you probably don't care about... it's about me but maybe you could learn and use it for yourself... if you consider it to be useful...

Since last year I've become a fan of Homeopathy (Alternative Medicine) and so far don't regret it. trying to take as few pills as possible. Thanks to Alda (Anastasi), my homeopath, my sinus last winter has cleared up totally and I regained my energy. I was sceptical for a start but so far so good...

3 September, Coffee break, Bulgari Ad and iPhone

A quick coffee break - on my piled up desk... finishing off a Bulgari Diagono advert, drinking some coffee... Yesterday was dad's birthday - looked all around the island to get hold of an Apple iPhone 3G - everyone seems to be getting them next week or the week after of after... not much luck. Was then going to try my luck with a Tissot T-Touch but so far decided to wait for the iphone since probably it's a better gadget for dad :) Could do with one myself but at this point I'm fine with my Prada phone.

Such a busy week and so many decisions taking place - hopefully next week will be a little bit more 'stable'...

And those emails just keep coming in...

3 months with the ipod touch (iphone without the phone)

After receiving my ipod touch for my 28th birthday - wasn't sure whether it would be one of the m any gadgets running around on shelves, desk and bed side table... but I'm glad its not the case with the ipod touch. I am mostly using it as a 'PDA' - calendar, browser which is pretty cool via wifi as well as of course as a music player (mostly with Bose Soundock).

Last month wasn't sure whether I should jailbreak my ipod touch - eventually i decided to 'risk' and get it done - all went well and I'm glad i did - functionality has increased drastically and now its' full of little useful gadgets such as weather, euro convertors and sketch... in a few words... I love it ;)

A quiet day... just went out to eat with friends and spend the day out...

- ipod touch

- some gift vouchers...

I love the ipod touch - its more useful that I though it would be - yes probably the iphone would save me carrying my phone with me, but really I still like my Prada phone... Love the wifi capability and the crisp screen amongst other features... hope Apple releases the SDK for the iphone and ipod touch shortly... have been considering jailbreaking the ipod but decided to wait a little more - rumors say Apple will release SDK end of this month...

Re: present of my choice - I'm tempted to get the new Apple Macbook Air... very light to carry but probably it's not that vital at this point... instead most probably I'll get another Mac desktop (and as for the vouchers - still have to find the time to go check out the shops)

Paris, Christmas and the rest

I've been saying I'll be updating my site and blog for quite some time now... but I'm always caught up with something... a few catching up notes...

Paris

Been to Paris end of November... Weather was terribly cold but at least no rain etc - was a nice holiday all in all. I'll try post a few pics and more info some time next year (since we're just a few days away now!)

Christmas 2007

Relaxed with friends - went to eat at 'The Kitchen' in Sliema. Very good food - especially for a vegetarian!

Apart from that don't know what else is of interest...

Got myself a Burberry umbrella and scarf, a red Polo Ralph Lauren top, a gas heater, new bed slippers and some Egyptian cotton towels....

(you're probably thinking about my lovely combination - hope doesnt sound like a cross between Sex and the City and Desperate housewives ;)

The last month of the year has brought mixed emotions - difficult to explain. At this point I find it difficult to judge whether it was a good or bad month overall... many things happened and somehow feel I have little control. Luckily work is not very hectic at this time of the year and I hope I'll be gearing myself up again for the new year very soon. Probably the cold weather doesn't do me much justice. My horoscope lately states that this is a 'weird' time for me - I'm not a strong believer in astrology but sometimes some things may have some truth lying somewhere deep down.

Heat & 'Rih Isfel'

It's terribly hot running around... driving, getting stuck for an hour near the St Julian's tunnel.... missing out on meantimes cause of the latter, etc... and in desperate need for more 'lighter' clothing - will try run to some shops later today, as it never seems to happen....

in the meantime got myself a Lavazza Espresso/Cappuccino machine - maybe not perfect timing since it's mid summer - but I drink coffee in moderation all year round... and the machine makes great coffee with the use of 'capsules' - and then again I like iced coffee :)

Juice magazine should be out anytime now (or maybe it is already and haven't seen it...)

And in all this heat I haven't been to the beach once... and Pierre Mejlak's new book is on it's way Rih Isfel - perfect title for this time of the year...
